For 98%, expectations whooped the medicine hands down

Hello my friend:

Yesterday a question came in from a lady from Oklahoma who
said she'd felt depressed for the last few years and with
less than 5 minutes together, surprise, surprise, her
doctor put her on anti-depressants.  She said for the last
6 months she felt better taking them than without. 

However, she also said there was a MAJOR side effect...
more on that momentarily.

Even with her side effect set aside, statistics show that
she's in the minority, since studies show that even the
newest, most expensive happy pills only bring about a
positive change in moods for about 30-35% (about 1 out of
3) of the people who take them (before the physical side
effects kick in). 

Placebos (pills that have no drugs in them) on the other
hand, do between 28-33% (about 1 out of 3).  And they have
no side effects. 

What does that mean?

It means that the people who THINK they're getting drugs
get basically the same positive mood altering effects as
those people taking the drugs who suffer a whole host of
nasty side effects.  But the placebo takers are spared the
nasty effects.

OK, so what was our Okie lady's drawback?

Well, it seems she felt SO much better that she stopped
taking just about anything very seriously... and got fired
from her job.  Apparently she didn't let anything ruffle
her, even deadlines, which she basically ignored so often
that she became useless in her job.  And according to her,
she was a bit of a superstar before the drugs took over her
mind.

So tell me, was it worth losing her job to feel happy?

To answer, keep in mind that only about 2% more people
feel less depressed taking anti-depressants compared to
good old sugar pills.

What that means is that in 98% of those cases where people
took a pill and felt better, it didn't have anything
whatsoever to do with the pill.

For 98%, the biggest factor was their expectation of
feeling better.  So yes, it was all in their minds.

Simply the power of suggestion.

That, my friend, shows how powerful our minds are.  Point
is, in 98% of the cases, if you want to feel happy, or
confident, or motivated, just like people who are
chronically depressed, you have the power inside you to
feel those emotions.

All you need is a road map, a guide, a proven set of tools
that can train you to feel how you want to feel.  There are
a ton of therapists, counselors and self-help authors who
can tell you what to think... lots of self-help books and
lecture tapes out there that can give you many exercises
and ask you to consider taking different actions than you
do now... and even ones that show you exactly what actions
to take in order to get the results you want.

But what happens with 95-98% of the people?

...No matter what the goal, whether a physical goal or a
mental goal, financial... doesn't matter, 95-98% of the
time, the advice is ignored, the goals are abandoned and
the problems persist.

Because of resistance, either consciously or unconsciously.

An example.  A man with net worth of 48 million dollars.
Success?  What if his ideal body weight is 185 lbs., yet he
weighs 251 lbs, and has been divorced three times and is in
therapy three times a week due to anxiety.  Success?

Answer.  No.

Because if you are successful in one area of life, but
many others are so out of wack that you can't even enjoy
your "success," you are missing out big time.
