Mike here again. I've been waiting for you... This is Day 4 of your 6-Day Think Right Now! class. Strap yourself in... I've got a full tank of gas. Let's go! What goes in must come out... Yesterday we talked about the methodology of installing new information, beliefs, attitudes and unconscious mental patterns that are the foundation for practically all the thoughts and actions we take. We found that the key to fast change is your mental and physical state while you are hearing, seeing and feeling the new input. You learned that when your brainwaves slow down... when you relax, your mind is more receptive and less critical. That is why you rarely change your mind about anything when you're in an excited state. At those times, you're more likely to go with the flow... to react as you always have. This is why you shouldn't fall asleep with the TV running... especially to an all news channel. You do not want to be in a receptive state of mind while that kind of negativity is being dumped in. But it IS desirable to have good stuff going into your mind while in that state... And that's exactly what Think Right Now! audios do. Before you think 'Oh, no. I tried affirmations. They don't work for me,' you didn't use any Think Right Now! programs. AND you probably 'tried' affirmations a time or two and quit... If you tried them before, just reading them won't do it. You see, if there are specific emotions you want to feel and actions you want to take, and you want to be fr*ee of anxiety while you're taking these actions, then you must gain VERY SPECIFIC and DEEPLY HELD beliefs and attitudes. So not just any kind of haphazard affirmations will create a very specific result. That would be like saying all pain relievers are alike, or that all girls who go to a certain school are geniuses, or all Italian men are extraordinarily handsome. (Actually, I think the third one is pretty close to accurate, but that may be because 'Brescia' is Italian!) My experience is that to predictably create desirable changes, you have to attack the source of problems with a laser-like focus and with gusto, hitting it from all sides... 22 sides to be exact! If you don't, you'll end up, for example, with a garage full of exercise equipment and a fat, unhealthy body. If you don't, you'll have shelves filled with 'how-to' books and tapes on every subject, but still not have the skills you were 'taught' in them. If you don't, you'll have a degree in psychology, but be beset with crippling panic attacks just like the people you're supposed to be helping. No doubt, you've experienced this phenomenon throughout your life in some or many areas. You could be the best it the world in one area of life, but be an absolute failure in another. And that is because your beliefs (affirmations) concerning the one area are exceptional but in the other, what you affirm to be true is a bunch of de-motivating, limiting crap. Well, the statements you'll hear on TRN! audio programs are like NOTHING you've ever heard before. You'll find no fluffy, flowery, wacky affirmations on these programs. Unconsciously, you're affirming what you believe almost every second. It's just automatic... and doesn't end. Examples of limiting beliefs that may enter your mind unconsciously throughout each day are: * 'I am so dumb.' * 'I'm a klutz.' * 'I knew I wasn't going to get a hit.' * 'She wouldn't go out with me.' * 'It's too early to get up.' * 'I'll is going to take FOREVER!' * 'I don't like doing this. I want to do something more fun.' * 'Just one won't hurt.' * 'I just know they're not going to like it.' * 'I need a smoke.' * 'This is too hard.' ...Do you know what all these statements are? Right! Affirmations... Statements of conviction... belief... certainty... And they kill any chance at lasting success. You see? You already do affirmations All Day Long! What are your automatic affirmations (beliefs) doing to you? Are yours directing you to be happy, effective, loving, creative, motivated and inspired? Or are they disempowering you, causing fear, anxiety, hopelessness and even depression? If you are feeling emotions you don't want to feel on a regular basis... If you make many wrong choices even though you may KNOW what the right choices are (Like watching TV over exercising, eating the doughnuts instead of the strawberries, skipping class, working on low priority tasks instead of important ones)... If your thoughts get confused during meetings, tests or other critical moments, only to remember the right things to say or do AFTERWARD... ...then your affirmations (beliefs, convictions, feelings of certainty) are disempowering you-- they aren't allowing you to feel what you need to feel, so that you can do what you need to do. And you MUST change them... ...or you will continue to get the results you've always gotten.
